KepatihanPro KepatihanPro is a TrueType font designed to fulfill the needs of persons using the Central Javanese musical notation system called Kepatihan. KepatihanPro Font provides a wide range of characters for notating balungan, vocal, rebab, gender, and kendhang parts. Two screen fonts (10 and 12 point sizes) are included. The Keycaps document (included in each font package, but available for separate download) provides extensive examples of how to use this font.

I created Kepatihan for the Mac around 1994 to aid in my gamelan studies, and then let it languish for many years. Finally in 2000 my good friend Raymond Weisling generated PostScript and Windows TrueType versions, edited the original KeyCaps document to improve readability, and set it out on the web for all to enjoy. Now I'm reclaiming it on my own website as one of my "works".

That being said, I'm not likely to develop it any further, as my interest in gamelan has -- somewhat sadly -- waned since the early 1990s. If anyone wishes to continue this work, by all means do so.

Surakarta Surakarta is a screen font I created for the Mac in 1992. It displays all characters and symbols of the traditional Javanese script called Hanacaraka. Normal and italics versions are available in 12 and 36 point sizes.

Since there are no TrueType or PostScript versions, this is truly an incomplete work. Rather than have my work come to nothing more than a lovely screen display, I would be very pleased to see someone further develop this font.
