Find Your Javanese Birthday

To determine your Javanese birthday (weton) from your date of birth according to the western calendar, we'll use the following example:

8 November 1974

Step 1: First, locate your year of birth, 1974 = 74, in the column at the left-hand side of the table below. Then locate your month of birth, November, at the top right of the table. Go down this column untul you reach the row where the year of birth is located. In our example, you will find the number 5.

Step 2: Adding this number (5) to the date of birth (8), we get 5 + 8 = 13.

Step 3: Now find 13 in the right-hand portion of the following table. The row in which it is located will tell you on what day you were born. In our example, this day is Friday:

Step 4: Now, to determine what day your were born on according to the five-day Javanese week, use the following table in exactly the same way as you did above: find the intersection of your year of birth (1974 = 74) and your month of birth (November). For our example, you should find the number 0.
